I go to the LFS already to buy just one Bolivian Ram. The profile says they stay isolated until spawning, and I'm just not interested in not knowing if I have 2 males or 2 females and risking all the "beating up" behaviors. The fish guy tells me I should get 3. So I go home, read up again, and hopefully confirm for myself that one will be fine.

He/she seems happy soon after being introduced. I like the fish!

Gwen

5 Neon Dwarf Rainbows
4 mixed loaches (Angelica)
2 ghost shrimp
1 Bamboo shrimp
1 Blue Gourami
1 Bolivian Ram :)
43 gal, planted tank

pictures!

Here are pictures some of you requested. He/she is a cutie! I told myself I wouldn't feed today (I'm overfeeding, so I'm trying to go to every other day) but I could hear him begging me that he hadn't eaten in days because they don't feed them at the LFS, so I broke down. He did a good job posing, so he had to get some reward!! No food tomorrow!!

I named him Borrego (means ram in spanish). I'll call him Boggie for short. As you can see, he seems to fit right in with my adorable Dwarf Rainbows.

Cute huh?? On another note, I bought 3 oto cats, just days ago, for my other tank, and found one dead today - sad. This is my first death of a fish.

With a 43 gallon you might have enough floor space for another one given you have alot of objects to break up the line of sight on the bottom of the tank, great addition though, I love my two, in fact so much they have their own 20 gallon all to themselves!

I don't think he looks that way. My juvies looked exactly the same way, and with clamped fins at first due to taking a bit to get settled into a new tank. He'll color up nice and you'll enjoy him. They are great little fish. Thanks for keeping us happy with picture posting!

Kymmie,

Since you have them, do you think I should get another one? Should I wait till I can better tell what sex this one is and try to get the opposite sex? I wouldn't mind having two but I don't want them fighting. Ideas?
