Is one of your discus a male? You do not need to soften your water just for this case. A lot of discus breeders breed them even in hard water.

They are male in female. They do a great jod taking turns to take care of the eggs but the eggs keep dying and they have been laying for a month now. There in a 46 gallon tank and lay there eggs on a huge rock.

I noticed you said "white mold stuff". Those are fungi developing on them. I'd suggest, if they are in the main tank, placing them in another tank and dosed with methylene blue the tank water there to prevent fungal developments.

Methylene Blue. It's risky for the biological filtration though which could cause mini cycles. Is it possible for you to wait instead until you can get another tank? I don't want your discus struggling with the water conditions going warped if this does happen.
