help ID my apistos please!

hey guys, got both of these dudes (i think dudes, anyway) a month and a half or so ago. they are settling in fine now, but Id like to get a couple females for them if I can. So... Im wondering what species each one is. they were just labeled as "assorted apistogramma" in the store and the dude had no clue what species.

any help would be appreciated!

Lol I'm no expert but I did a google thing and the closest thing I could find is Apistogramma cf. resticulosa this is the only english site I found http://www.geocities.com/NapaValley/...sticulosa.html

This is an image of the same fish but on another website that I have no idea what the website says because I only speak english. This one looks more like your fish then the one in the link I posted... Very cool fish by the way :D

I think you nailed it! a further search of that species brought me to
http://www.fishbase.org/Photos/Thumb...y.php?ID=46692
which really REALLY looks like my blue apisto, and the one on the bottom even looks like my yellow guy!

and this page, from another site REALLY REALLY looks like a dead ringer.

hats off to you my friend, you saved the day hehe

I dont know if this species comes in the different colors but ill do some more research. It would appear the common name is the Finestripe dwarf cichlid, however a search of that in google comes up with ALOT of different types. Ill do more research later :)

Yeah, sorry I couldn't really find anything that was incredibly close to the yellow guy. Nothing that was worth posting that is. I'll have another go at it but there is only so much you can do with a google search :P Lol at least we know what the one guy is.

Apistogramma trifasciata just found it... He doesn't look exactly like your guy

It's a possibility... I think your right though. The fish in the second link looks a lot like your guy.

Weird. I just found the exact same picture as the one in your second link... I think it's a flower pot in the background.. But yes the only difference is that the photo is flipped and it is called Apistogramma norberti.... I'm so confused now because when I go to save it goes to save it as apistogramma resticulosa. So I'm not 100% sure but I think they could be the same fish just different colours.

im wondering if they are both resticulosa only in different colors. On the other hand, I find it almost bizarre that a small non-chain LFS that does NOT specialize in fish would have such a randomly uncommon breed.
