I just adopted a friends' green terror cichlid. she is currently housed in a 20gal tank alone but am wondering if she is healthy. she has several scales missing but otherwise has not presented unusual behavior. the tank has not finished the cycling process (a def concern)..along with the small sized tank.. should i b concerned?

Scales could have been lost when netting/catching the fish, or from damage caused by tank mates in previous tank .
If you can borrow some filter material from your friends tank, and place it in your filter taking care to keep it wet during the transfer in aquarium water,, Then this will help your tank to mature or (cycle) a bit faster.
The twenty gallon tank cycled or not,,, will need 50 percent water changes twice a week with fresh dechlorinated water for as long as this fish remains in the tank.
I would be looking for 55 gallon minimum for one Green Terror, this fish gets quite large and if it remains healthy,, will out grow the 20 gallon within a couple months judging from the size of the fish in photo submitted.(nice fish).
