Ok, so i have been following a thread on here with some debating on whether to go SA or african. This member has the same pH as me (7.6) and has decided to go african....since getting into fish keeping i have seen several cichlid tanks and i have fallen in love. Sometime after the holidays i am planning on getting a new tank so i can start an African Cichlid tank.
so my pH is 7.6 and i have a kh of 10-11d and a gH of 21d.....i was looking at cichlids from lakes malawi and victoria...i would also like to have a fairly heavy planted tank if possible, a lot of the cichlid tanks i see in the LFS have a couple plants and TONS of rock...i know the rock is needed to help with sight/aggression issues and hiding places....
i would love to keep some electric yellows and would like to add some others with equally vibrant colors. I know the electric yellows are fairly peaceful as far as cichlids are concerned....
so my questions are as follows:
1. rec. tank size (i would like to have 12-15 fish total)
2. problems with keeping all males as i am not interested in breeding or the aggression issues that arise from spawning
3.rec. for cichlids that will fair well with my water (also temp is usually 78-82f)
