Goby cichlids

Goby cichlids are actually not gobies at all, but rather very interesting chiclids from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. One of the most interesting things about african cichlids from the rift lakes are they are found no where else in the world besides the lake they are endemic to. These little jewels only kind of resemble gobies in appearance and have poorly developed swim bladders so they tend to more hop around than swim. They are also unique in that they are bi-parental mouth brooders , which means they take turns carrying their young in their mouths until they hatch.
