Question Fungus on tail of BGR

Just got GBR last week.He has a sopt on his tail that looks like a fungus.I put him in the QT tank.Read some where that you must be extra carefull when medecating them. New to fish keeping so any advice would be greatly appeaciated and welcome.

If you have a quarantine tank, why didn't you put it in there from the start? All new fish should be quarantined.

Posting a pic is always helpful.

I would do water changes and see if that doesn't clear it up in several days time. If not, then medication is needed.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

I beleve the 2 sentance was (I put him the QT tank).Read up and he has cotton fungus.Thank you for reply. TANKS-30g-20G,10G,5G.

Oh, it seemed like the sequence of events was that the fish developed the problem and then was put in a QT.

If its small and caught early, water changes should take care of it. However, I would get the med now so you have it if you need it. The second it gets worse I would medicate, and if it doesn't start improving after several water changes, then i would medicate.
