Of course someone knows the original make up of the fish and being a business they have a reason not to publish it. Now there not just two fish as they have added others to try and get different color variants to make that breeders stock more desirable. I agree that ZZ is the most common flowerhorn and look at its basic traits, Pearls, under bite, speckled fins which are all trimac traits. Body shape, large hump both midas traits.

take.. http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/images/trim2.jpg
breed with.. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...29/Midas01.jpg
get the best looking of the pair breed with the best looking of the pair next to it and repeat countless times and get

then add http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/images/zonatus.jpg
repeat steps another x number of times
get: http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/4005flowerhorn.jpg
make money...

i dont see the Vieja in their though , i dunno, i just know the original was not made with only a trimac and midas, their were others involved as well, like i said, when they started to actually classify them as a flowerhorn, their was more cichlids involved, im sure they started with a trimac and midas, but at that time they were not known as a flowerhorn, just a hybrid

of course someone knows, someone made them but this was a long time ago, and from what i know the breeder that made them never did release the info, so therefore as far as i know no one today, knows exactly what makes flowerhorns, even the originals.

my favorite are still Kamalaus... soooo pearrrrrrllyyyyyyyy :P
