Hey everyone, i'm a bit of a noob i'll admit it. I was wondering if this was a rivulantis or something like that. It bullies the other fish (convicts & Silver sharks) alot. I was wondering what fish would go with it or if i should trade it in and get other fish again what do u believe would be a good fish.
I couldn't dig information about this fish. I tried searching under the name 'rivulatus' but it's a no go. I can only guess.:) It appears to be a Central American cichlid and from the looks of the pic, it could reach 12 inches if at all possible. I believe the convicts and balas must be removed immediately or risk having them killed by that cichlid. Have you provided enough hiding places for that fish?:)
Thanks guys. Umm yeah there are quite a few hiding places around the tank. The end finage is yellow and white. And if it seems i should sell it what do u think would be a good replacement?
The fish you have is commonly refered to as a green terror or gold saum (Aequidens rivulatus). They are slow growers and max out around a foot, I would consider them on the less aggressive side of large cichlids but make a great show fish when large. Feeding is like any other cichlid, they should get a quality pellet food for staple and other food on the side like krill, worms, peas, prawns, etc.
You could try removing the green terror and while he is out of the tank rearange the rocks and hiding spots and reintroduce the terror. Id keep the terror, they are great fish.
max size 12 inches
likes clean soft water
and as far as aggressive goes its not that bad with fish that are the same size or bigger BUT iv found with all my saums that they like to bully fish that are smaller or do not fight back
