firemouth timescale

my 4 firemouth babies currently reside in a 20g with a large pleco and a syno cat how long before they reach adulthood im planning to dispose of the current tank and replace it with a 50g the fish are on a diet of flake,algae wafers,frozen cockle,ciclid mix frozen food,live brineshrimp simply put how long have i got before they reach a size were i need the 50g i was only planning to keep a pair i bought 4 to let them find a pair how do i tell sexes and how will i know a pair has formed?

its more of a case of when will the 50g be a nesesity not an option

almost big enough to breed so i wouldnt call them fry or babies at that size. And IMO id move them out with in a few months.
