firemouth bloating

hey so my firemouth is im gonna go with 4 inchs he she w/e lol is kinda bloating all of a sudden behind the gills dont knw if its normal or not hes been eatin shrimp for couples weeks all he really wants to eat he dont want pellets or flakes just shrimp dont knw if this bad thing or not hes the only one with lil bloating did i over feed him or is he bloating and before anybody asks about water i changed 80 percent 2 days ago cuz i was slacking and didnt clean tank for month lol so all the nitras and and etc etc are all good tank is clean and clear as ever its b e a u t i f u l :-D i love the marineland filter system

oh and i feed them two qubes a day the size of nickle so two nickles aday and both oscars and pleco eat it and its frozen shrimp i was thinking i mite not feed them tommorow see what happens i dont knw maybe hes constipated lol

so i just came across another theory dont knw how true it is Cryptobia a parastie that causes bloating in firemouths how do you cure it

I'm not sure about the parasite. Someone else who knows more about it will have to comment on that.

I don't think an all-shrimp diet is ideal for your firemouth. These fish are omnivorous and need some vegetable matter in their diets along with the protein. A good cichlid pellet will provide a balanced diet which you can round out with frozen and live foods but I think the high-protein diet might be causing the bloating problem. You might try feeding a thawed frozen pea to see if that helps with the bloating issue. Have you seen him pass waste recently?

not really he hangs in his cave alot but hes back to normal this morning so thats good thing
