fire mouth advise.

hi
my pair have spawned and the fry are simply gorgous, although i have had a look
around,i would be very greatfull if anyone could give me some inside information
about how and what they did to help bring them on.
thanks.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

IBK (in before Kym):

Pictures!

I've never had firemouths myself but if they're anything like kribs, they'll get along fine if you crush flake food into a powder, mix it with some water in a tiny container, suck it up with an eyedropper and squirt it at them. That's how I raised my kribs' first batch of fry and I ended up with thirty something adults.

i would love to show pictures, however they would just be a blur, they are so tiny.
i was very worried yesterday when shrek(the plec) was in the same area as the fry,
the parents were non to impressed and kept pecking at him, they chase away anyother of the fish, and the fry huddle together in the ditch that mum and dad dug.there's not many fish that
would be a threat in there,so there will probably be a hight rate of survival.
oh dear might need another tank lol.
thanks for the feeding tips, that's good to know.

Ha! Jim beat me to it. C'mon Willow, if you can get pics of itty bitty sticky icky black gooey eggs that are going to hatch into the octopus headed monster surely you can get some pics of your firemouth fry!!
How cool that you have firemouth fry!!

i'm going to try :)
they are brave little things which might not be a good thing, they travel
together around the tank,i really thought they would only stay in one place.
and yeah i feel lucky.

Kym, that's not just any octopus-headed monster; that's the mighty and fearsome CTHULHU, High Priest of the Great Old Ones. Jeez.

Jim- I was going to say that you didn't expect me to keep current with the latest and greatest monsters (I'm old, remember?) but then I googled it and found out CTHULHU is from a story written 1926. I'm old but not THAT old, lol.

Willow, I will be patient and wait for the fry to get a little bigger and then we'll see pics, right??
