Puffers don't eat fish. The feeder guppies you bought might have brought in a desease and puffers are very susceptible to deseases since they don't have scales. Puffers eat invertebrates such as snails, shrimp, crayfish, and some worms

Am not sure of the relevance of the thread title question as puffer fish are not even cichlids.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

Some cichlids will eat guppies but it is NOT the best food to give them simply because they are not a natural part of most cichlids diet.

They can also (in the case of feeder guppies) bring a pathogen into your tank which could potentially kill the other fish. They can also cause digestive problems, they should NEVER be fed to Lake Malawi or Lake Tangyanika Cichlids it will kill them, they will never come into contact with a guppy in their natural habitat. This includes the large predatory fish which will eat smaller cichlids but NEVER guppies.

Animal proteins are not good for them and often lead to bloated sick fish, for their digestive sytem is not geared for this type of diet.
Store bought feeder's of any kind should be avoided due to possible diseases being transmitted to otherwise healthy fish. Much more nutritionaly safer food's offered on the market today that has all but eliminated, the need to use live feeder's except by those who derive some sort of pleasure from offering them.
Bit's of krill, shrimp, talapia fillet, are used by most who offer animal proteins to fishes that need it along with afore mentioned pellet food's.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.
