discus is aggresive?

hello there i have a problem with my discus!

i bought him about a month ago and he has been doing fine until latley he was chasing my bolivian ram around and turning black and turning on his side? could you tell me what is going on? i was also planning to get another one to accompany it. its currently in a 55 gallon with community fish.??what to do?

All cichlids, including discus, have the potential to be very aggressive and territorial. Discus, just like angel fish, should be kept in groups of 5 or more to avoid one fish being picked on. Getting a second discus at this point will most likely result in your current discus beating up the new one. To me it sounds like your discus is very stressed, a lot of the stress is probably due to being the only discus in the tank but you may want to check your water parameters as discus are very sensitive to water conditions, especially high nitrates.

Agree. The "black" is absolutely a sign of severe stress. And any of the issues mentioned by lorax, singly or in combination, could be the reason.
