So, i just added fish to my 55 gal aquarium that i am making into a lake malawi mnuba tank. I had gotten 3 albino zebras and 3 auratus (sp??) after day one i found one of my auratus dead on the bottom of the tank, he looked beat up when i purchased him, then after day 3 one just disapeared, they are small fish and i cant seemto find him anywhere in the tank. durring last nights feeding i couldnt find the 3rd one, could only see the 3 zebras....when i woke up this morning and checked on all my tanks i found one of the auratus stuck to the intake of the filter:-?. I WAS going to take them back to the LFS to get some less agressive mnubas.....guess there is no need for that now....
Sorry to hear that, How big are the zebras, and were the auratus? Zebras are very aggrsive to. Here is a stoking list i have made for you if you would like it. You may or may not like them i just thought i would share.
3 Albino Zebras. (You already have)
2 Elongatus Likoma. Or any (Elongatus) females
2 Bumble Bee. females
2 Kennyi. females
Any of those will go with your Zebras and be able to stand there bullyness. Hope that will help you.
mollies....YOU ROCK!! thank you, yes, i had been looking at all those fish too and like the looks of them!! All my zebras and auratus were about an inch long
if you havent seen my other thread....my 55 sprung a leak and i had to rush to the store and bought another 55 and in the process i found one of the auratus under one of the rocks....i think he may have gotten stuck and died !! poor bugger. the most recent one to pass had some white fuzzy gunk around his mouth that i noticed yesterday morning and by last night he had too disappeared and i found him this AM stuck to the filter intake....
no, i have never ordered online before, i have though about it and even had things in a shopping cart ready to check out....just never followed through with it...any suggestions on a good online fish store?? i am in fl
I order my fish online too because I don't have a LFS near my house. I use "livefishdirect.com". They have a peretty good selection of africans and depending on the size they will sex them for you. In florida though you shouldn't have much of a problem finding a good retailer.
meh......the one closest to me is probably the best one i have visited. The others i have visited.....well.....they just dont impress me. they arent very friendly, all there fish are VERY cheap and then are 50% off on top of that, they are dark and dreary, and most of the time have very dirty tanks....just not overly impressed. will def. check out some of the online stores though!!
As rrcoolj had stated Livefishdirect.com is one of the best to buy african cichlids. They are the only place i order my cichlids through. They do hand pick them for you. If you send them an email they will get the best out of there strain for you. Good luck.
cool, i will check them out and hopefully have somemore fish soon. im gonna give these guys a little while to recoup, they had a rough day today with my tank leaking on me.....had to go through 2 tank changes and an almost 100% WC
there website says that you have to have a minimum order of $100.00, but if you mabe contact them and are able to go and pick them up yourself they may waive the minimum. it may be worth a shot, hope this helps.
awesome!! thsnk buzz. daytona isnt too far from me...maybe a couple hours drive!!
