Oscars grow to full size, about 8-12", within about 6-12 Months. He should really get another tank now.

I agree.

Kindest Regards,
Amanda

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

55 gallon, 44 gallon, one 20 gallon tank, three 10 gallon tanks, and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.

I have MTS and there is no cure.

If you look at the profile it says they can get up to 18". I briefly had a pair with the smaller one being 12" and the larger being 14-15"

As everyone has said they get big and get big fast. I would get at least a 75 gallon or like 280L as a permanent home. 18" is a bit of a stretch. i would say 14-16" as typical adult size. They need heavy filtration, a good water change schedule and lots of food. People tend to have problems with the first two.

"responsible fish keeper?... Didn't know there was any other kind"

I am not retarded I just can't spell
