There's nothing to worry about it. The fish will escape and will not stay where you siphon.

yea .. i was kinda afraid to siphon out the waste. instead, i took a cup of the water from the tank and poured it back in. then i tried to catch all the debris and other stuff that floated up .. it seems to work pretty well, but i'll use the siphon now since you said the fry will avoid it

so i used the siphon today to clean the fry tank and the fry made only a little effort to move out of the way. by the time i finished w/ the siphon, almost 35% of the water was in the bucket.

raising babies...

I hope you still have your babies, quick go to the pet store and buy what they call a breeder, it's just a plastic box that floats at the top of the tank holes in the bottom that keep them safe from the other fish.. it's sooooo awesome, good luck!
