convict cichlids are about the easiest cichlid in the world to take care of. Plus they breed like rabbits. You don't need to do anything special for the fry just leave them with their parents convict are awesome parents. Just feed the adults as usual and the fry will get their fill. You might actually hope some die of. Convicts breed all the time and getting rid of fry can be hard because everybody and their great grandma breeds them.

What size tank are they in and what are they housed with? Breeding convicts are nasty. And when I say nasty I mean vicious! I have seen a pair of cons keep a 12" oscar cowering in a corner in a 75 gallon tank. Tankmates have to be chosen carefully.

GL with your fish, post pics if you can.

Sounds great. You really don't need anything special to take care of cons. They just need clean water and good food and they will thrive.

As rrcoolj stated Convicts are excellent parents. Once the fry are free swimming they will start feeding. The parents will make sure they get food. Mom or Dad will dig around in the gravel/substrate releasing any little bits for the fry to feed on. I have also seen my pair eat their pellets or flake and spit out bits into the cloud of fry for them to eat. You could also just use a good flake food and crunch it up into a fine powder.

75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)

LOL... ok now to switch the question.. any ways to stop them from breeding? I think I already interrupted one courtship and moved the male to another tank.

LOL Convicts are the guppies of the cichlid world. The only way to stop them from breeding is to do what you have already done...separate the male from the female.
