Question Compatability Question

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm still learning. I'm getting ready to do a 55 gallon freshwater and I'm kind of in love with two different fish, so I'm curious if it would be doable to have them both in my setup.
Can the Cockatoo cichlids and the colored panda cichlids live together? I would probably only get a single of each - not pairs - so wouldn't that lessen any breeding aggression? Between not having breeding pairs and LOTS of vegetation and hiding spots, would that be ok? Or would they in fact be too lonely without a mate? If this setup WOULD work, what else would be okay in the tank? Some cory's?
Well, if anyone can help me out, thanks a million!

Those are both different species of Apistogramma. That should work out just fine in a 55g tank, as they'll have plenty of room to avoid one another if you end up with two males. I'm not an expert on apisto hybrids, but I might be worried that if you end up with a male and female of the two different species, you might get some hybridization going on which is generally frowned upon.

Agreed. You should be fine with any of the Apistos, Rams, Kribs, Discus, and other peaceful south americans. Just make sure not to overcrowd, and really watch the other fish if some start to breed. That's when any fish can get ugly.
