Cichlids plus hornwort

As a few of you know i recently went to an auction and picked up a bunch of plants. One of them was a big back of hornwort that I am using as a floater on the tops of some of my tanks. I had some left over and threw it into my cichlid grow out tank. This morning I look at it and its almost all gone. Did someone eat it? there is a blue crayfish in there

African cichlids along with some South american cichlids and crayfish will eat plant matter, the Africans more so than the South american cichlids. Including this in their diets will result in healthier fish.
African cichlids will also eat a fair amount of algae.

Dwarf cichlids like Apistogramma and Microgeophagus will appreciate the hornwort as part of the biological/chemical filtration in the tank. It also oxygenates like you never believe in the right light!
