cichlid move

Hey everyone...my new to me 75 is almost done cycling......I am being given 15 cichlids..question is how many are safe to move in there at once?...I know the rule normally is 3 at a time ....then wait a few days ...I am wondering about aggression?

Very true come cichilds are territorial and need to be add all at the same time, which means you will need to increase you biological filter first.

If you are using bio media from the old tank than you can probably add them all at once which is best. 2" fish don't have a huge bioload and emperor 400's are pretty big. Are you using substrate from the old tank as well? That would help a lot.

Thanks for helping me ...didnt move gravel as I put sand in the new tank.....I am still pretty confused on the whole over filtering ...on the Cichlid forum I concluded I needed mega filtering..I was given one of the Emperors which I thought needed parts but turned out its working fine..meanwhile back at the ranch we got another one and decided to keep it!!! Do you think its over kill ?

2 emperor 400's is nothing on a 55. For example when I had mbuna in a 55 I had 2 AC100's and an xp2 and was looking to upgrade to an xp3 or xp4. 15 2" fish is one thank but 15" 6" inch fish is another. These guys get pretty thick too. And why so many of the same species? Most people when they keep mbuna have several different species lol. It may be better to add like half at first and then the other half a couple days latter.

ok so your advising move half then the rest a few days later...I forgot to mention they are currently in a 55 moving to a 75...if that makes a difference? Also would you suggest the big one the 4 incher comes in the second group?

Yes move the bigger one in the second group. That way he won't be territorial toward new comers.
