You can do 2 males and 6 females of each without any real issue. Like any cichlid, you may get a mean one in the mix. But just make sure there are plenty of caves and tunnels, and you should be fine. Nice mix, btw. Posted via Mobile Device
With cichlids, overstocking is a common way to combat aggressivness. Lots of plants and caves will help a lot. The acei and yellow labs should get along fine in the tank, not too familiar with red zebras as I havent owned them myself.
Careful ratios of sexes will help greatly as mentioned above. And I too agree that 8 of each sounds about right.
You'll have to be careful with the aquascaping - it MUST have enough caves and tunnels. A weaker fish must be able to escape. Even the females need time out from males. And yes, one male with four females is important. Posted via Mobile Device
