Cichlid can't open its mouth fully!

I noticed about 2 weeks ago one of my chiclids could not open it's mouth to eat properly. I started feeding him small pellets that were easier for him to eat. He's still able to get a few larger pellets down but he works very hard at it. It looks as if his mouth is a bit sideways, perhaps maybe from a lip lock fight with another fish. Question is will he ever beable to open his mouth properly and is there anything i can do to help him. He's still very active, still very interested in food, colors are great fins are fine. Any information would be helpful thank you.
