Can't get more Kenyi

I went to my favorite LFS yesterday to get some more Kenyi because I am understocked, just to find out they aren't getting any in for awhile. All the ones that I kept getting from the big box stores kept dying so I don't want to buy anymore from them. Does anyone have any suggestions as what could mix well with my Kenyis? Remember I have a larger syn in there with them as well.

There is not a lot options to mix with kenyi in a55 gallon tank sorry. It's hard to keep them with other mbunas unless you have a much larger tank. They are just nasty fish. You could maybe try auratus and see if that works.

Honestly though I would give away the kenyi and keep more peacful mbunas that way you can stock the tank with a bunch of milder fish colorful fish. I think it would make the tank more interesting but it;s your call.

Just an update. I ended up ordering some off of aquabid.com. I ordered 9+1 so will this fully stock me? I was thinking of getting some more Syns if possible? Will the larger syn be aggressive toward the other cats if i got some?

Tank is already maxed don't add anymore fish. Don't be surprised if there are some deaths though. Again kenyi are nasty and it can be hard to house them in a 4ft tank. Keep 1 male ONLY and atleast 4 females.

I received my shipment and all was well. The shipper actually put in 9+1+3 in the order. They all arrived healthy and ready to go swimming. Everyone seems to be adjusting well. Once they start to mature I am going to cull out the extra males. I will hopefully end up with 2 males and around 8 females. I have 2 males for sure already.

There is no way 2 males will co-exist long term in that tank. You will have to get rid of one or one will kill the other in time.

I am going to cull the males when the small ones get a little older. There is one male that is def the dominant. The other is the same size but won't fully change color.
