the tank = 40" long X 14" wide X 20" high
on the bottom = coral sand
decor = lava rock
fish = calvus/Compressiceps/syno
tank 2 is where i need some help
tank = 22" long X 16" wide X 20" High
on the bottom = crystal quarts
decor = dog wood/real plants
fish = HhMmmm i do and don't no
i like
- Hatchet Fish
- Corys
- Clown/kuli Loaches
- Rainbow Fish (red)
- Discus
will Dicus live in a tank of this size?
also i was thinking of only having one sp of bottom dweller, so i only want 1 out of these 3 - Corys/Clown/kuli Loaches, yes the clown loach get big but they are also slow growers and if and when they get to big 4 the tank there is a 300l they can go into.
Discus won't fit. Shane might be better off with angelfish. Altums.:mrgreen: Go with kuhli loaches. Wish he loves tetras too.:sob: Only hatchets in characin category?:sob:
I'm feeling good, just trying something a little bit different. All my other tansk that I've tried having small/community fish in have all been bigger tanks so the monsters move in in the end. This tank is not big enough for anything monster so I'm hoping the tiddlers will last me this time.

( better to keep cory and loach of the same size the biger loach are some how naughty)
there is no confilct with the others.
in the biger tank I think it is about 40 gallons ( am I right ? did you mean 20 " watter or 20" of all the aquarium hight)
you can keep 4 discus but if you are trying to keep discus try to buy some very small fish like litte tetras with them, and If you can find healthy discus the smaller the better ( for your tank I mean)
better to ask the seller feed them and buy discus that are eating well. or see the stomach is full it means that they are healthy at the moment.
here are some other tangs you can think about. neolmaprologus multifasciatus,neolamprologus cylindricus,neolamprologus brevis,julidichromis (of some species??),calvus or comps like u stated would be good also.
Altolamprologus calvus >>>>>>>>>> verry my kind of fish
Altolamprologus Compressiceps >>>> same as up there
Frontosa >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> my fave tanggy but a little to big 4 this tank
Neolamprologus brichardi >>>>>>>> not a nice little fish, all they do is breed and fight
Neolamprologus leleupi >>>>>>>>> very nasty, nice to look at but not nice to live with
but in torn with 2x ideas
LIDO
it has 4 x red rainbow fish in there now doing fine :wink:
tank #1 houses my monsters 75g jag/gt/jd/dovii some soon to be going into a 6x2x2.5
tank #2 will be 4 the little fish 26g the texas is in there 4 now not unless you think he will live with a 7 -8inch jag?
tank #3 will be hame to the tangs 50g (calvus/Compressiceps)
what point dont you get?
