Bolivian and Blue rams together
Hi everyone, I have a 125 us Gallon tank and currently have a bolivian ram in it along with alot of other fish, I was wondering if I could add a blue ram or two without the rams fighting. I had more Bolivian rams but I think the lone ram killed the others, The tank has been set up for 2 years and I do water changes twice a week
If you have reason to suspect that your current Bolivian ram killed the others (in the same 125g tank, I presume) then I wouldn't risk adding the GBR. Blue rams are smaller and generally less hardy than Bolivian rams so I think your Bolivian would find him an even easier target than his former tankmates.

This really baffles me.Ii've seen both species kept peacfully in pairs in tanks as little as 20 gallons. In a 125 each fish should have PLENTY of room. Plus rams are very docile fish. I've never known one to kill another fish not even when breeding but I have limited experience with them. Are you sure that the bolivian killed the other fish? Both species should be fine together but as mentioned german blues like thier Ph low and are alot more sensative to changes in parameters. They should all work in the same tank.
honestly I am not sure, I bought 5 intially for the 125. It was established for over a year, one by one they died withing the first month. Only 1 survived. He is such a nice guy with the other fish, so it was just a guess. I had no other fish deaths in the tank during that time, perhaps it was just a bunch of sick Bolivians.
