i know i really should post pictures but the lack of digital camera makes that difficult. ill try and steal my mum s soon to post them however, bascially i went to my (not so) local fish store yesterday to get a couple of blind cave tetras and instead i came home with 3 blue rams. ive never really seen the appeal of cichlids but i just fell in love with them. their names are rosie, jim and iain. rosie and jim form the kids tv program and iain cause ive always promised my mums boyfriend id name a fish after him.

anyway, i just wanted to express my delight at them. theyre wonderful :D

ill post pics if i can get a hold of somebodies camera

:) thanks.

i was worried because i knew they needed quite soft water, then i found out that our water is very soft anyway.

i got them from coral reef on paisley road west that you told me about. glad you did as i havent seen any rams at all in my lfs and the one in city centre i wouldnt buy fish from as it doesnt seem to clean.

should get some photos at the weekend using my mums camera. ill make sure i post them

Looking forward to seeing the pics. Out of interest, the one in the city centre - Boyds by any chance?

might be. its called "the aquarium", or at least thats what it says on the door. its right next to terrys tattoos and round the corner from a1 comics. at trongate, near the bog clock. have you used it before? maybe its alright and im just over-reacting but ive been in a few times for a browse and to buy some food and the fish tanks just dont seem as clean as they might be, and theres always the odd dead fish floating about.

Yep, that's Boyds. I put in a compaint to the environmental health service at the beginning of last year. The shop was visited and seemed to clean their act up for a while. I haven't been there since - but you are right to avoid it.

well either it was REALLY bad before they "cleaned up their act" or its back to how it was. its a sort of catch 22 situation thoguh because i almost wanted to buy the fish from there to rescuse them, but i know that will only make it worse long term so i avoid it. i especially feel bad for the bettas in the tiny tubs. theyre not even bowls. theyre about the size of a can on peas or somehting

Yes, I complained about the bettas before. And they had been removed last time I went.

Seems they've reverted back to the way they were. A word of warning - don't buy any fish from there.

Chances are it will die pretty quickly or have some kind of disease. :shake:

i think ill put in another complaint then because if they got taken out last time they were complained about then they might get taken out again, even if it was only for a little while. and it might force them to give the tanks a clean

no i wasnt going to buy fish from them. i just meant that i felt like they should be rescued but i didnt actually buy any.

i will let you know what happens when i put in a complaint
