blue johanni with wound behind fin, what to do?

hello i have an adult blue johanni with a wound right behind his fin i would say its like his fin pit... kinda it looks like a rip but the actual fin has no damage in fact he hasn't a scratch or nip on him at all.... i put some melafix in the water and added a bit of salt but what else should be done?

he seems to be acting normal

i will be able to update you with my water parameters tomorrow

Awaiting water parameters, but unless you are seeing signs of infection, fungal or bacterial, the best thing to do is nothing at all. Keep the water clean, temp warm, and be sure he's well fed to help keep his immune system strong. Avoid stress, and if there's a bully in the tank that is causing injury, then best to move the injured fish to a quarantine tank until it recovers to avoid further damage. Complete the Melafix treatment but no more than one course should be needed if the water quality is in good shape. (test results will determine that)
