They are clowns and kept with mbuna including Melanochromis. I have read the article but she fails to mention their ability to adapt to a wide range of water parameters without suffering. She states "but their long-term health is likely to suffer", I have seen 9 year old clowns at the lfs, that have been in african tanks most of their life and she also states You may see/hear of fish temporarily surviving in 'compromised' conditions" I rarely hear of them not doing well in compromised conditions.

I have had my clowns with my africans for 3 years they have never ever had ick, one has never died they look happy and healthy and i am sure they will live a long happy life with my africans. The picture shown in that article has horrible looking clowns all pale with no color mine have rich colors. And the point of mixing them is because I like clowns!!! africans
show no aggression towards them at all..

This topic has been locked. It has become a place for arguement and debate by almost everyone involved and is not providing useful information. Please refrain from bantering, belittling, and arguing in posts in the future.

Not everyone has the same opinion about fish keeping practices and very rarely is any advice that is ever given set in stone. Enthusiasts of a certain fish often lose sight of that. Is like Pit Bulls and children, some will say that it is fine and other will want to throw you in jail for just suggesting it.

Please keep all advice in all topics relevant and non argumentative in the future. This is a friendly forum and we plan to keep it that way.
