Apistogramma Cacatuoides hiding

Just picked up 3 Apistogramma Cacatuoides 2 days ago and I rarely see them accept during feeding and every once and while they will come out. Is this normal behavior for them to hide when added to a new tank? There are tons of hiding spaces in my tank and they are only about an 1in right now. 2 males and 1 female. They are already showing some nice colors but can't get any pictures because I barely see them. Thanks

You can find some info in our profile, click on the shaded name Apistogramma cacatuoides.

How long is the tank? Males form a harem, so there should be 2-3 females to a male. Unless you have a lot of space (4-5 foot tank) the two males will hound themselves and the poor female.

Its a 55 gallon. I have been seeing them more and more now. I will have the opportunity to get a couple more females from the same place I got the original. Mine are only about 1 inch and seem to be afraid of the bigger fish in the tank. (Other adult apistos, discus, corys, ect.)
