Any tank mates for discus?

Hi all, I may or may not get a 75 gallon fish tank off craigslist with a heater, sump, light, and the D wood.
I have seen people keep discus with angel fish and was wondering if I could keep discus with Microgeophagus Ramzeri. Also any other info on discus is very appreciated.

Microgeophagus Ramzeri do great with discus. I have had 2 electric blue rams with my discus for 2 years without any problems. Other tank mates that I have had success with are Cardinal Tetras, Panda Corys, different species of Apistos, Hatchets, and Kuhli Loaches.

Discus should not be maintained with angelfish due to the temperature variation (assuming commercially-raised angels here) and the angelfish's more aggressive feeding which can cause the discus to not eat and literally waste away.

Mikrogeophagus ramirezi will work with discus. For other fish with either or both, check the profile, it mentions several that are suitable.

By the way, I've moved this thread into cichlids; assuming it got in catfish by oversight (the categories are close to each other in the list, easy to do).

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business.
