I'm pretty sure the minimum tank size is 30 gallons, I wouldn't put them in anything smaller than a 55 gallon though.

If you have plenty of spare tanks, you can raise a group of 6 young angels in a 55g. A 30g can support a bonafide pair or only one angelfish. A 20g can support a pair or two of Pterophyllum leopoldi but nothing more as these are apparently the most aggressive of the three species of angelfish that exist. For Pterophyllum altum, the minimum tank height should be 24 inches. 18 inches for Pterophyllum scalare which are the ones you often see in your stores.

As far as the gouramis are concerned, a large tank is better if you want to combine two but let us know what species you are going to try. Pearls are often the most peaceful and fine in a community however a few species can become bullies such as the blue gourami and the strains: Cosby and gold.
