I agree, if they are young it may take a few times for them to get it right. Have done quite a bit of research on breeding angels myself and from reading the experiences of others some angels can take a few times before they get it right. Did their papilas look the same? I agree it is hard to see on the video.

Yeah I'm not sure of the sex. Can you have a look through these and let me know if you can tell? The shape looks slightly different but I'm not sure: Angelfish Tank Gallery

Looking at the pictures from what I understand I would say that you do have a pair. The papilia on the male will be thinner and pointed, while on the female hers is bigger and blunted. I would give them a chance it could take some time for them to get it right.

Papilla Close-up

Got some close-up shots of the black fish's papilla, from the looks of it, I'd say it's a male....?
