Angelfish discoloration

When I first got my angelfish, it had a nice opaque black stripe running down its face (one on each side) and nice red eyes.
Now, they are all faded and the eyes are clear.
Could a powerhead be the culprit? The angelfish is flapping its fins at a normal rate even with the powerhead running, so I don't think it's straining against the flow.

water params are all normal. No ammonia no nitrates/nitrites etc.etc. (had it tested today at a lfs)

feeding habits are normal but the feces is varying in color and seems to be always pooping...

one more thing. when I turn the lights off, his black spots really come out and they appear on his skin from nowhere. the top of his head becomes blackish, his stripes (two on his head and two on his sides) become stronger and his fins become really really black.

thanks in advance!

Did you see the angels opaque black stripe running down its face (one on each side) and nice red eyes at the store or when you took it home. If it was at the store, it could have been the lighting. Or if you just brought it home it could just be stressed a bit.

I have had the fish in the tank for about two weeks now and it recently began i don't think its the stress factor. In the store, it was a bit less I recall.
I do remember the worker saying "good choice" when I picked it out though, so it is most likely one of the better ones that they had there (unless he was lying to me)

finnage is beautiful. some ripples in the tail fin but very very big top and bottom fins for a quarter sized fish

What types of decorations do you have in the tank? Angels will adjust color to match their environment. Because they're not very fast swimmers, they use camoflague to blend into their environment. A lack of plants (either live or fake) for them to sit amongst could be the culprit. Either way, it sounds like stress.
