A couple of weeks ago I made a post asking about pairing behavior and trying to get some info about exactly what I was seeing in my angels. I have 5 juvies, probably about 8 months old in a 55g community tank. Check out the sig. It's two wild types, a marble, a black, and a koi. I didn't get a lot of answers to that post, but I think I have some of my own. I'm fairly certain I can expect eggs in the next couple of days. One of the wild types is now showing a papila. The other wild is helping clean leaves and whatnot and they're generally running off the other angels (especially the marble which is the other big one) from that end of the tank. Nothing is especially rough just yet, and the one that I suppose is the male isn't showing his sharper papila. But the one I suppose is the female is nice and plump. As well as hot and bothered. We'll see what happens. Check back here for updates!
Update! As I was typing this up, the female has started! There are a couple rows of tiny eggs on one of the leaves of the melon plant.
And another update. One of the other angels got too close. And we've already gobbled them up. The attached photo shows the female's papila and how fat she is. So much activity in five minutes. We'll see if she goes back to it or waits a while after having to swallow the first couple dozen.
