Could I add a firemouth cichlid to my 56 gallon tank with my keyhole cichlid, flag cichlid and bllue ram together? I'd like to keep it as a peaceful tank. I have read several different reviews/opinions on firemouths so I'm kind of torn, I really like them tho. Should I go with a Severum instead?
Is this a 56 gallon tall tank? What is the footprint (length and width) of the tank? With cichlids territory is what matters so a longer tank is better than a shorter, tall tank. A Firemouth may or may not work. You could try it but be prepared to move the fish if it doesn't work out. A Severum would grow too big for a 56 tall in my opinion.
What is the species of your "flag" cichlid? There are a couple that go by that name....Festivum and Curviceps and I think Acara sometimes go by that name also.
Hmm, great observation! The tank is 56 gal. tall, so yes space is limited. The flag cichlid is a Festivum cichlid, I think he also get 6-8"? I had a laetacara curviceps and at some point I'd like to own a laetacara dorsigera, beautiful fish. Perhaps I could try Pelvicachromis pulcher or shouldn't add another cichlid? a spotted african leaf fish? I definitely need a more expert opinion than mine
I have all dwarf cichlids in that one. Apistos and Dicrossus mostly
