Africans with snails and shrimp?

thinkign about a cleaning crew of snails and shrimp for my african planted tank, will the africans leave the shrimp and snails alone?

That's a certain no on the shrimp. While I've never had cichlids I can tell you that far smaller and more peaceful fish have gone after my shrimp, and those shrimp were adults not juveniles. Depending on the size of cichlid you get even the larger amano and ghost shrimps won't be safe with them. Most people use shrimp as feeders for cichlids.

I can't speak for the snails.

Not saying it's appropriate but, take a look at "the Cleaning Crew" advertised on Aquariumplants.com.

im not a fan of purchaseing livestock through mail, i have my reasons. im jsut curious if africans would leave snails alone?

Depends on what you mean Mitch. My africans love to eat juvenile snails because their shells aren't hard yet, but they tend to just eat the "tentacles" off of the adult ramshorns. They will also eat the egg sacs

I've since this threa had net tile snails for about a month with no issues this far

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta
