adverse reaction to melafix???

i dosed my oscar tank with melafix tonight and one of my fish is acting very strange.....he was never really an outgoing fish to start, but now he will go hide behind a rock and just sit there, he will twitch every so often....could this be some sort of adverse reaction to the melafix?? all water params are good, he hasnt been getting picked on and he ate great this afternoon

Melafix is bad for all "scaleless" fish. If your fish is a cat, get him into clean warer ASAP.

Umm not an expert on fronts but they can be a bit sensative. When using a medication unless all fish are infected then it is reccomended that you seperate the injured fish and treat it seperatly. The medication could be having an atverse side affect on the front but honestly I think it will be fine. But please don't keep the front and oscar in the same tank. Oscars are one of the fasting growing cichlids reaching 8-12in in one year. Fronts are one of the slowest growing cichlids and can take 2-3years to reach 6-8in length which isn't even thier full size. Your oscar will end up eating a very exspensive snack.

I had a betta once that had a bad reaction to melafix. He acted just like your oscar. He looked lethargic and sat on the bottom of the tank until I changed the water.

the front is currently larger then the oscar and so far the front rules the tank......this is my BF tank and he wants to try out the oscar with the front because he likes both fish....we do have another tank we are cycling so the oscar will hopefully be moving over soon

Good to hear. But tha oscar will catch up with the front very quickly if kept in good condition.
