Not a question on help as such but more a short story.
I woke up this morning to find the filter cap of my overflow floating in the tank. I went to put it back on only to find a 5" acei tail up stuck head first in the pipe!
Trying to gently pull it out didnt work, I removed the overflow and tried to get it out, thank goodness for a Union fitting on it to easily remove it if needed.
After several failed attempts, only thing I could think of was stick the python hose into the overflow pipe and try and blast the fish out. Having drained some of the tank water so that the overflow wouldnt work. I threaded the hose up the overflow with some effort. Temperature matching the water, I managed to remove the fish, the fish actually hit the glass canopy.
I have checked on it several times and apart from probably a slight headache it seems fine! Moral of the story, have some sort of filter or cover on your overflow that the fish cant remove if you run a sump system.
