Dunno much about Moonlights, I do think they fall into the category of shyer types along with the Pearl However From what I've read, they tend to hide and can be quite timid.

Yes, if you get a Jack it'd be like having as Oscar, couldn't have it with just about anything else other then some sort of larger cat. But I'm assuming thats what your going for?

You might want to check into Chocolate cichlids. I've never kept them but people on another cichlid forum have stated that they have a personality very similar to an Oscar.

@ Dragon: Pretty much yes I like that doggy attitude oscars give :] they even jump for food its interesting.

@Jean: Really? Never heard of them but I just researched them it said they can excede 12inches. Isnt that the max inches of length of fish I can have in a 55?

:P I saw the chocolate cichlid, it looks pretty and wonderfull <3 I wanna get one now. But question is seeing as their alittle more peaceful :P Can I keep them with other fish? or a turtle? if possible? if not Iam still happy :P its my musk turtle and will probably have the same temperature as the cichlid and its not a known biter and the cichlid has been said to be peaceful with other fish except its own kind just like a betta :D so is it possible?

Some sites suggest 55 minumum tank size but some say 75. I believe the females stay a little smaller than the males but I would not know how to sex them. Sorry I can't help you on the compatibility with other fish as I've not kept them before but it would seem they are on the same par as something like a severum.

But wouldnt that beat the point? The reason I cant get a 75g is cause of parents. Dx if I could id get an oscar right off the bat. Idk what I would do, how to find a female would be quite hard. Dx and they probably wont act like oscars well the female wont because ussually female cichlids are less active like my parents my parents have male and female cichlids the females are shy. anywho Iam going on a week vacation meaning ill get to see diff pet stores maybe I can get a grasp on what to get ;O I would love to mix my musk turtles with fish though. Which is possible...but people dont recommend it unless iam possitive its peaceful and warm waters

Sadly I have to get my RES a newer better filter. This filter stinks x_x my tank is sooo cloudy soo dirty bad thing is I dont have those cleaner tools x_x. Before I go on about that 55g I should get that tank the best filtration system ever because Zen although lovable is a little pig x_x so I was thinking on the fluval 5x what do you think? what is possibly the best filter out there that even the messiest turtle cant compete with? Seeing as this is my favorite animal x_x moneys no object.
