Yep I'd say this was a fair idea. I have read that they prefer to be in shoals however in my lfs where I bought them they couldn't care less about each other, and I have only 2 in my tank (damn the lfs for not having more when I went back for another few ) and they seem to be getting along just great.

ther fine in singles as long as thers other tetras in the tank... ive even heard of thm hanging with rasboras

Oh no! I'm not arguing. I thought that what you suggested was a good idea. Like I said the ones in my lfs couldn't care less about each other. Mine are in with a bunch of catfish and are fine, just going about their own business.

I wonder if their lack of shoaling behaviour has anything to do with them not being able to see each other? I would have thought they might otherwise sense each other but after thinking about it, form this thread, I'm not sure.

they sense eachother the same way they find food ... i was actaully considering keeping some in my locker at school

i dont actually know how they find food. i think is some kind of sensery system kinda like snakes

and i was thinking of building an aquarium the exact size of my lockers top shelf to put in ... blind caves wer the obvious choice cuz they dont care about light

Would there be a way to increase the # of fish to 1.31 fish per gallon of water? A 55 has a large surface area, and maybe if I added aeration stones and upgraded to more powerful filters.... could it be done safely or would it just stress the fish too much? I can upgrade to a 75 but I would rather not unless it is absolutely neccesary...

aerators help a little ... better or many smaller filters work better ... in my opinion the best it to have a planted aquaruim .... in my opinion ur not overstocked if i got ur fish list right.
