Positively the females will also most times get the black on the anal fins to. You can sex most yellow labs by the egg spots on there anal fin. The males are more bright. the females are smaller not so bright. and males will get larger then the females will.

Alright... after doing some more research, I think I've decided to get P. Saulosi (3 males, 6 females). I still want the Acei, though. Since they're only mildly aggressive, I should put them in a couple months before Saulosi so they can stake out their territory first without being hassled. Or at least this is what I understand about what to do with timid fish...

I would do 2 males to 6 females. and I would add the Saulosi's first as they dont get as big as the Acei. It will take them a little longer to grow then the Acei. The Acei will end up running most of your tank. So just remeber to have a lot of hiding for the (dwarf) cichlids. (demasoni's and saulosi's). Yes both of them are agresive but are much smaller then the Acei's. Yellow labs would be ok.
I would start your tank with the
First Yellow labs, 3
Second Saulosi's 2 males 6 females
Third Demasoni's 8 to 10
Fourth 3 Aci's
