Old thread, I know, but a Jaguar cichlid definitely needs a 75g or larger.

Well, it's not as simple as liking or not liking *cross* breeding. When you cross a poodle and a labrador you don't end up with a dog who can't open or close it's mouth. Do you consider developing a hybridization of a fish that can't open or close its mouth properly is acceptable??? Everytime I see a parrotfish I feel badly. As far as your reference to people *cross breeding*, the only thing I can offer in that respect is that people are able to make their own choices, fish don't enjoy that luxury.

people can't cross breed. we are all the same species. hopefully you wern't making reference to people of different races, because a comparison between the spawn of hybridizing fish (which is possibly harmful to their offspring) and biracial children in ethically faulted.

I certainly wasn't referring to different races because as far as I'm concerned we are all the same. There is no such thing as *crossbreeding* people which is why I used the double astericks. I was referring to fish only! I'm sorry if it was interpreted other than as I had intended.

As for dog crossbreeding, most of the older species were bred specifically for an intended purpose and not because they looked pretty. Newer breeds that are bred for their looks or silly names (i.e. labradoodles) are a marketing gimmick that I don't support. However, as aunt kymmie said, even these hybrids are nowhere near as appalling as fish created for aesthetic purposes that suffer from their deformities.

Also...I certainly hope there's no human crossbreeding going on...I believe that's illegal in most states.
