I haven't been here in a while, but one of the last posts I'd done, almost a year ago, was to lament that I couldn't find lemon tetras in my lfs. And I'd been told that there was not much call for lemon tetras because they look so pale when in store tanks, that people aren't interested in them and thus don't buy them. So not many people were breeding them.
I was down to two lemon tetras (from originally 7) and they'd been dying one at a time from age. So I went out to one of my LFS in my area today and they had about 10! I purchased 5. I can't totally jump for joy, because I just got them, but they seem to have settled into my tank ok. My other lemon tetras (along with 3 flame tetra and 2 pristella tetra) are already more active in the tank.
Just to explain the odd numbers of tetra that I have, it's because I had bought 3 flame last year when I couldn't get the lemons and my tetras needed company, and about 3 months ago, I'd had another lemon die and thought that I'd found baby lemon tetras, but discovered that they are pristellas. Actually the pristellas are pretty -slightly yellow colour on fins with large black striping and no red eyes (lemon tetras have red eyes).
So here's hoping that all will be well.:smile2:
