"MelaFix - MelaFix is 1.0% Melaleuca. It is the more concentrated, or stronger, of the two remedies.

BettaFix - BettaFix is 0.2% Melaleuca. It is less concentrated than Melafix, this means for every one drop of Melafix, you would need 5 drops of BettaFix to get the same amount of Melaleuca. "

From the instructions, Melafix uses 5mL per 10 gal, and Bettafix uses 2.5mL per gallon, or 25mL per 10 gal.
You can see that you end up with the same amount of Melaleuca, using 5 times as much Bettafix than Melafix.

I agree, don't understand why they say not to use Melafix on Bettas.

Anyhoo,
Thanks again for the advice, keep your fingers and fins crossed for my wee tetras.
A member here, nvmyluv I think uses melaluca oil to treat her fish instead of Melafix and she said it seems to really help.

The betta will be okay with the Melafix. It's a natural tonic so it's not as harmful as the meds often used.

I've also used melafix with my betta, no problem.

Sneaky how they change the dosing and the ml:gallon ratio on BettaFix, huh? What a marketing scam (although genius)! Companies do the same thing with many children's meds. Give 2 tablets- and it equals the same as 1 adult tablet, but they charge you twice as much for half the amount. LOL

Mf:

I know that this is "late in coming" but I voted for glowlights because they seem much hardier than my neons.

i can second that, TR! all of my neons died really early on when the ammonia was running high. granted it was totally my fault, but the glowlights were in at the same time and they are fine. I have 8 of them left.. and they are bad dudes. I even suspect 2 of them carjacked my neighbor and knocked off a liquor store. :D

OK just a random question. Why is there an 85% vote on glowlights and 14% on neons? What happened to the other 1%?

Julie:

Give me a break here.

Surely if you are solving the energy losses at the perimeter of wave guides then
You have ascertained that the percentages are being truncated and not rounded!

Glowlights have been introduced to the main tank !
Spent 10 days in QT, one with damage seems to have mostly healed.
There was some commotion with my betta when they first went in, but all seems to be stabilising, thank goodness.
Fibi needs to learn to share the tank...
Feeding seems to be the challenge now, since the shrimp grab the food quickly. Will keep you posted...
