Well, I've been taking Nitrate and Ammonia levels nightly and the levels have never spiked. Im sure to only add 3 or so fish at a time. I currently have:
2 mystery snails
2 male guppies
9 tetras-6 neon, 2 glowlight and 1 x-ray.
I have an Aquaclear 20, which seems to keep the tank very clean, and I do 20% water changes weekly. Been running like this for several months. Did a fishless cycle back in May. Then added the snails and guppies once the tank was cycled. Added the neons about a month ago in 2 groups of 3. And added the 2 glowlight and X-ray last week.
The tank I had is fairly wide, so they seem to have room to swim. The guppies tend to hang out on top and the tetras stay closer to the bottom 3rd of the tank, except when its feeding time.
