My friend has a 15inch pleco that he needs to be rehomed. I have 4 red bellies in a 55 gallon, and I was wondering on what your opinion was on putting him in there. It sounds crazy, but their not that aggressive, their actually scardy cats when it comes to bigger things like my hand haha! I know somebody that has 2 in a 40 gallon, and he has 2 algae eaters and they don't bug them since they don't usually free swim through the middle of the tank you know. They are defiantly always well fed too.
I was just wondering if anybody had an opinion on this.
You have to increase the filtration capacity if you attempt to add the pleco. It's a matter of trying if both will work or not although they shouldn't be bothering the plec.
Red-bellied piranhas are not cichlids. They're characins. I moved your thread here as it covers both fish instead of one.
Oh thank you! I actually have two 70gallon filters running, do you think that would be enough for them? Im fully aware of how much waste plecos
put on in a tank! I have seen the bottom of his tank and all it looks like is pleco poop in the corners untill he sucks it out. lol!
piranhas in a group like that shouldn't mess with the pleco. It's when piranhas are singled out alone in a tank by themselves when they get really aggressive.
Ohh k gotcha, they chase each other around a little bit but never nothing real agressive. They can tear up some worms though lol.
