Pic of our H511 Tetra - new breed

Hi guys, as promised, here is a picture of our new breed of tetras. Right now they go by H511 until they give them an actual name. I think they are pretty cool looking, my son picked them out and we have 3 of them.

Enjoy!

I just purcased 5 tetras with the designated name of HY-511..........Probably the same species as what you got.....Mine dont have as much black in there dorsal fins, though........I only have had them in my tank one day, but they seem to be getting along with all my other fish.....(Tetras and rasboras).......Seem to be very healthy eaters for me and i havent seen them bothering my cherry shrimp........Good luck with your new addition!

Looks like a high-finned serpae tetra, not a bloodfin tetra...
serpae on the left, bloodfin on the right

Kamazza, i think you might have figured out what they were cross bred from.......they do have the high dorsal fin like the serpaes and the red fins like the blood fins, but mine lack the black body spot that the serpaes have.........I dont know if this is a cross breed hybrid or a newly found species.........cant find out alot of info on them......I have had mine for 5 days now and they are very healthy and eating well and coexisting with my other fish just fine

The picture shows a very faint spot and the serpaes have red fins. All I'm saying is I really dont see any bloodfin resemblence, but thats just my opinion. The fish appear mostly serpae-related. It would be interesting to know how this species came about, what it is a cross between.

i agree with finding out info on them, but there isnt alot around for this "new" species.......mine do resemble serpaes as far as the body structure, but there temperment is alot better than serpaes...........every school of serpaes i ever had, always picked on someone in the tank............I dont keep them anymore, just for that reason
