I'm told that in a large enough tank you can keep multiple cats with relative peace.*
My LFS guru has a large tank with a mixture of four line & pictus and they all cruise around not bothering each other.

* My tank's not large enough. If it had been I would have gotten four cats.

exactly, but whether odd or even means nothing. All that matter is other variables like the quantity of the fish and the size of thier enviroment is all.

The point I was trying to make is that odd versus even does matter, in regards to particular fish in smaller numbers.

Ive never heard of dwarf platies, how big do they grow?

they are bascily platys only gentically modified to stay smaller than the typical platy. Ive dealt with both standard and dwarf platys and they both seem to be just as healthy and live just as long. The main positive i see in the dwarfs is that they stay small. Even for small aquariums. (5 gallon minumum)
