Also, read this on another forum. They call it the 'beaslbob method' (beaslbob is a member of the forum there). Basically it's a method to create an environment in the tank that doesn't need much maintenance at all. This is what he messaged to me after I asked him about it (it's an example he gave me for a 10g tank)

Maybe this will help. Several others on the forum have this type of set up and I hear great things about it. It's supposed to create a self-sustaining environment where you only have to do water top offs and feed the fish.

just wondering how this all turned out.

Found in google search

(awww gosh)

the real beaslbob

worth at most .02

Actually, since then I had to move. I had the tank setup justlike how I was describing it and started on stocking and whatnot, but I had to shut the tank down.

Recently I got the tank set back up. It's a cichlid tank housing my 2 year old Jewel Cichlid, Joel, and numerous other cichlids (as well as a young dinosaur bichir).

thanks for the response and glad it is still operating.

From time to time I have had to move tanks or take them down for awhile also.

Yeah, it's kind of sad. Sometimes it can be nice to have a fresh start, though.
